Laura E. Fryer B.A., LL.B.

Laura was called to the Ontario bar in 1994.  Laura has been practising family law exclusively for the past twelve years.  She joined Heather McGee in 1998 and they worked together until May, 2009 when Madam Justice McGee was appointed to the Superior  Court of Justice, Family Court.  Laura is the principal of Fryer & Associates.

Laura believes in assisting her clients to resolve their legal issues in a reasonable, practical and sensible way.

Laura welcomed the advent of collaborative family law as an alternative to traditional litigation for many clients.  Laura is a founding member of York Collaborative Practice and its past President.  Laura also sits on the Board of the Ontario Collaborative Law Federation, the umbrella organization for collaborative practice groups across Ontario.  She is a certified collaborative practice trainer.  She is also a member of Collaborative Practice Toronto and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.

When Laura is not practising family law she enjoys scuba diving, horse back riding, skiing and travelling.

Kerry Lynne Thomason B.A., LL.B.

Kerry Lynne Thomason is an associate at Fryer & Associates with a focus primarily on family law.  She holds an LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the Bar in 1992.

To broaden the range of services to her clients, and to provide alternatives to litigation of family matters, she has completed the Advanced Collaborative Family Law Training Program and is now a certified trainer for collaborative professionals. She is a member of York Collaborative Practice and of CARFAC (Canadian Artists Representation).

Kerry Lynne sits on the board of directors of the York Region Law Association. Kerry Lynne is also an instructor for the Law Society of Upper Canada, currently teaching the Barristers section of the Skills and Professional Responsibility Program, and in previous years teaching in the Family Law, and the Legal Research & Writing Sections of the Bar Admission course. 

Active in her community, Kerry Lynne is a past member of her municipal Library Board, and of the Accessibility Advisory Committee. When not practising law, she is an avid gardener, equestrian and photographer.

Cheryl Williams B.A., LL.B.

Cheryl has worked in the legal field since 1992.  She graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1998 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2000. She commenced her long association with family law through her involvement with the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic assisting victims of physical and sexual violence, intensive study in family law at a legal clinic, and articles at the Office of the Children's Lawyer involving custody, access and child protection disputes.  Since her call, she has developed an extensive practice involving all areas of family law including complex property and support disputes. She has appeared at the Provincial and Superior Court levels, and has acted for clients in mediations and arbitrations.  Her approach is to provide service to her clients in a resolution-based, efficient, and cost-effective manner.  

Cheryl utilizes her strong analytic, written and organizational skills in all of her files. She has contributed to family law publications, written for the family law section of the Bar Admission Course, and appears in an educational film on separation and divorce produced by the Superior Court of Justice for the Family Information Session.

Dawn Kaufman-Frey B.A., J.D.

Dawn received a J.D. from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law in 2008 and has just completed her articles with Fryer & Associates.  She continues to work as an associate lawyer with the firm as of June 18, 2009, when she was called to the Ontario Bar.  While in law school Dawn volunteered for the Family Law Project working with family court litigants in the Ontario Court of Justice.  She also completed a semester at Downtown Legal Services, the legal clinic of the Faculty of Law.  Dawn worked in both the family law and immigration and refugee law sections.  She worked primarily with child support and custody and access issues, representing her clients in the Ontario Court of Justice.

When not practicing law Dawn enjoys reading, knitting, and spending time with her family.

Tracey Alder

Tracey Alder is a Law Clerk currently working with Kerry Lynne Thomason & Cheryl Williams. Tracey graduated from the Legal Assistant Program at Humber College of Applied Art and Technology in 1998.  She has worked exclusively in the area of Family Law since 1999.

When not working, Tracey is an active equestrian.

Kimberley Papp

Kimberley Papp is a Law Clerk working with Laura E. Fryer.  Kimberley graduated from the Legal Administration Program at Seneca College of Applied Arts & Technology (honour roll) and furthered her education by completing the Law Clerk Program at Niagara College.  Kimberley is a member of the Institute of Law Clerks and has worked exclusively in the area of Family Law since 1991. 

Kimberley enjoys actively participating with her spouse in their children’s activities and enjoying family time together.

Lenore Taylor

Lenore Taylor is a Legal Assistant and the Intake Coordinator for Fryer & Associates. Lenore graduated from the Legal Assistant Program at Herzing College in 2007.
